Depart Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) via South African Airways #208 at 5:40 pm.

Day 2: Sep 25, 2017

Arrive Senegal; transfer to your 5* Hotel; relax in the morning and depart in the afternoon for a full City tour of the exciting, bustling city of Dakar, stopping along the way for shopping at local markets including Soumbedioune; the Great Mosque of Dakar, Cheik Anta Diop University, the African Renaissance Monument with breathtaking views of the city and more.

Day 3: Sep 26, 2017

After breakfast, depart by ferry to Goree Island, classified world cultural UNESCO site. Transfer to the Slave House where prayers and African songs will be performed “for the soul” of Harold Cook; Dispersal of his ashes in the Garden and planting of a small Baobab tree in his memory; followed by lunch at Saint Germain sea side restaurant before boarding the ferry for return to Dakar.

Day 4: Sep 27, 2017

After breakfast depart for a culturally rich drive to Joal Fadiouth and Malango, where we will stay overnight and meet the traditional healers or “Saltigues” in the Serer society who predict the future; enjoy a barbecue lunch during the tour and dinner at the Royal Malango Hotel.

Day 5: Sep 28, 2017

After Breakfast, early morning departure, cross the Saloum River at Dakhonga and drive further south toward the Senegal/Gambia Border, drive to board the ferry to cross the Gambia River to Banjul. Check into our 4* Hotel on the beach in Banjul, capital city of The Gambia, Alex Haley’s Roots.

Day 6: Sep 29, 2017:

After breakfast, tour the capital city of Banjul, visiting the historical museum, the Anglican church, the huge Alberta market, rich in medicinal herbs, colorful tie die fabrics, etc. After lunch visit Serrekunda and Katchikally sacred crocodiles pool before returning to the hotel to enjoy a farewell dinner with folklore entertainment and overnight.

Day 7: Sep 30, 2017

Depart Banjul in the early morning, crossing the Gambia River by ferry and driving North toward Dakar. Stop in Kaolack where we will enjoy lunch at Relais de Kaolack Hotel before continuing on. We will stop at Lamantin Beach Hotel in the beautiful resort town of Saly, where you will enjoy a Farewell Senegalese dinner with folklore entertainment. Finally, we will transfer late at night for the airport in Dakar to check in for your return flight home via South African Airways flight #207.

Day 8: Oct 1, 2017

Transfer to the airport for your flight home via South African Airways #207 departing at 1:55 a.m. and arriving Home at Dulles International Airport at 6:25 a.m.
